MOURNING DOVE GRIEF CARE
Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions
Mourning Dove Grief Care, operated by Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions, is a first-of-its-kind facility in Wyoming dedicated solely to grief support. Located in Casper, the 6,196-square-foot center was envisioned as a warm, homelike alternative to the clinical spaces where counseling often takes place.
Previously a medical outpatient clinic, the one-story brick building underwent a complete renovation. MOA ARCHITECTURE worked closely with counselors, leadership, and staff to create a place where individuals and families could find comfort during life’s most difficult moments. The design replaces boxed-off exam rooms with inviting open spaces, a fireplace-centered great room, flexible group and art therapy rooms, child-friendly play area, and quiet nooks for contemplation.
Large new windows and reimagined circulation bring natural light deep into the building, while new mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems support modern comfort. The updated exterior, complete with a welcoming pergola, new monument sign, and improved streetscape, signals warmth and care to the community.
By consolidating CWHT’s counseling services under one roof, Mourning Dove Grief Care not only meets a growing need in Casper but also stands as a unique resource for the entire state. It is a space that is open to all—where healing, reflection, and connection are at the heart of the architecture.
