Our Culture

Over the past four decades, MOA has fostered a firm culture with an emphasis on teamwork and creative, collaborative thinking.

The firm culture carries a special spirit of exploration and engagement that involves a broad cross-section of teammates — from senior leadership to young professionals. In order to drive the business forward, each of the firm’s key business objectives is overseen by a committee of MOA teammates, who independently develop plans and tactics to drive the firm forward.

MOX

MOX is a collaborative team of MOA teammates that seeks to expand the firm’s knowledge of architecture, planning, and design through exploration and experimentation. The projects pursued by MOX include design improvements to the office spaces, design competitions, and forums to promote innovative design thinking.

MOX competition entry to NASA 3D printed habitat challenge

A representative MOX pursuit was the firm’s design competition entry to NASA’s 3D Printed Habitat Challenge in 2015. The design competition was the first phase of the challenge, which seeks to foster the development of new technologies necessary to additively manufacture a habitat using local indigenous materials with, or without, recyclable materials, in space and on Earth. MOA’s submission was selected as one of 30 Top Finalists to be judged and presented at the World Maker Fair in New York City, and was awarded the Best Architectural Concept. The design competition attracted more than 165 participants including submissions from the European Space Agency and Foster + Partners.
