Elementary School 29 in Erie

Erie, Colorado
A Neighborhood School Rooted in Community
The new Elementary 29 PK-5 School is designed as a neighborhood-centered learning environment within the heart of the Colliers Hill community. Situated on a 10-acre site, the school thoughtfully responds to the land’s natural topography through a multi-level design connected by ramps that create accessible, seamless movement throughout the building. The school brings together preschool and elementary learners in a welcoming environment that supports academic growth, collaboration, and community connection. With its distinctive curved roof, generous natural light, and durable material palette, the building serves as both an educational destination and a recognizable community landmark.

Designed Around Students and Place

The design embraces the site's natural slope while prioritizing the needs of young learners. Grade-level classroom neighborhoods are paired with flexible collaboration spaces and connected to shared destinations including the library, gymnasium, makerspace, music and art rooms, and cafeteria.

At the center of the school is the "Heart," a gathering space that connects the building's learning communities and supports everyday interaction, collaboration, and celebration. A dedicated preschool wing with its own entrance and outdoor play area provides an age-appropriate environment for the school’s youngest students.

A Lasting Investment in Learning and Community

The new Elementary School 29 is designed to support student success while strengthening the Colliers Hill community. Its masonry, metal panels, expansive windows, and signature curved roof create a welcoming neighborhood landmark with a distinctive identity.

High-performance building systems and a focus on energy efficiency help reduce long-term energy use, creating a sustainable and resilient learning environment for future generations.
