Adams 14 Summit Heights Junior High Tops Out

On July 30, 2026, Adams County 14 celebrated a major milestone in the construction of Summit Heights Junior High with the building's topping out ceremony.

A topping out marks the placement of the final piece of structural steel, bringing a building to its full height and celebrating the progress made by everyone involved in its construction. Before the final beam was lifted into place, students, staff, project partners, and community members signed it, leaving their mark on a school that will serve generations of learners.

In keeping with Scandinavian tradition, an evergreen tree was placed atop the final beam as a symbol of growth, resilience, and good fortune for the building and all who will learn within its walls.

The project remains on schedule and is expected to welcome its inaugural class in the summer of 2027. Once complete, Summit Heights Junior High will serve up to 850 seventh- and eighth-grade students in flexible learning spaces designed to support Adams County 14's Academies model. The campus will also feature new athletic facilities that will benefit both students and the broader community.

The celebration also included a special moment of recognition for MOA. Adams County 14 presented the firm with a commemorative plaque in appreciation of its support for district students who traveled to Washington, D.C., to participate in the National Memorial Day Parade. The recognition highlighted MOA's continued partnership with the district and its commitment to supporting students beyond the classroom.
